Welcome to the Pre-President-Elect Learning & Development Program (PELD).
This program provides an overview of what to expect in your role as Club President for the 2026–2027 Rotary year and supports early, effective forward planning. The Program is designed to help you prepare for a successful and rewarding year of leadership. Experience shows that presidents who complete these activities feel confident, well-prepared, and enjoy a highly satisfying year alongside their club members.
In preparation for the face-to-face PELD workshop on 18 April 2026, we ask that you complete the following activities. These activities are designed to support early planning for your year as president. Even if you have previously served in this role, they will help you refine your priorities and identify key goals for the year ahead.
Activities to Complete
The suggested activities are not onerous and should take no more than two hours. Completing them will ensure you are well-prepared to gain maximum benefit from the PELD workshop in April 2026.
- Please read Preparing to be a club president
- Ask your club members to complete the Club Health Check, review the results, and reflect on key insights. These results will be discussed at PELD. My Rotary provides a PDF version of the Club Health Check; however, we have developed an online version using SurveyMonkey, which is more efficient. The online format allows responses to be collected quickly, analysed automatically, and shared easily, providing clearer insights to support discussion and planning.
- Learn more about the role of being a president. Even experienced presidents will discover new insights and resources. We suggest you complete Club President Essentials 1 — Get Ready: Club President before PELD. Learn how to access the courses in the Rotary Learning Center. Once you have complete the course you can check your understanding by completing a quiz.
- Before you begin, please ensure you can log into and navigate the District website and that you have an active My Rotary account. Go to Resources for new presidents to find out about these sites. Rotary also uses many acronyms that can be confusing—download the provided glossary and keep it handy as a quick reference throughout the year.
