This resource has been created to support you as you explore your role as President-Elect and prepare for a meaningful and successful year of leadership. Serving as President of a Rotary club is both exciting and deeply rewarding. Together with the District Leadership Team, your Board, and your club members, you will shape a year filled with purpose, service, and plenty of fellowship along the way.
Rotarians are united by a shared commitment to community, integrity, and service, and by the strong friendships that grow from working side by side. As you step into this role, you also join a global network of 1.4 million Rotarians across more than 200 countries who work together to create lasting, meaningful change. Leadership in Rotary is guided by our core values—service, fellowship, diversity, integrity, and the Four-Way Test—which shape how we work and the impact we create.
While this resource is designed with new Presidents-Elect in mind, we also recognise that many of you are returning presidents or bring valuable experience from similar leadership roles. Our aim is to build on your existing strengths while broadening your understanding of the remarkable world of Rotary. Your year as President will not only advance your club’s goals, but also grow your confidence, expand your leadership skills, and deepen your connection to your community.
Every Rotary club is unique, and your leadership can reflect the character, strengths, and aspirations of your members. Your vision sets the tone for club culture—how members feel, how new people are welcomed, and how your club engages with the wider community. Rotary encourages innovation and flexibility, so your ideas and willingness to try new approaches will help your club thrive.
We look forward to partnering with you throughout your journey. Remember, you are never leading alone. Rotary Community Leaders, District committees, past presidents and fellow Rotarians are here to support you every step of the way. With thoughtful planning and a strong understanding of Rotary governance, you can lead with confidence and impact. This resource complements our face-to-face workshops and will remain available whenever you need to revisit or deepen your learning.
