Overview
Strategic planning helps your club move from where you are now to where you want to be. Using Rotary’s Action Plan as a framework, your club can set clear priorities, strengthen the club experience, and create meaningful, lasting change in your community.
Learning outcomes
Understand Rotary’s strategic framework (Vision + four priorities).
Use Club Health Check insights to identify key issues and opportunities.
Draft 2–3 strategic priorities for the next 1–3 years (with owners and next steps).
Know how to monitor progress and maintain continuity across leadership change.
Before you start
Your club’s most recent Club Health Check results (or a summary of key themes).
A list of your current projects/activities and any membership or engagement challenges.

60-minute workshop run-sheet
Welcome & context (5 min) – link planning to club vibrancy and Club Health Check evidence.
Framework (10 min) – Rotary Vision + four priorities (Impact, Reach, Engagement, Adaptability).
Status check (15 min) – strengths/weaknesses; key issues and opportunities.
Vision & identity (10 min) – what do we want to be known for in 3–5 years?
Choose priorities (15 min) – select 2–3 priorities; draft goals, owners, and first milestones.
Close (5 min) – monitoring, communication, and continuity across leadership change.

Upload the three Word documents to your ClubRunner File Library and paste the file links below.
After the workshop: reflection & action
Confirm 2–3 strategic goals linked to the Action Plan priorities.
Assign an owner for each priority (not just the President).
Set a first milestone within 30 days (small, achievable, measurable).
Agree how you will track and report progress (e.g., monthly board check-in).
Go back too you Club Board and engage them in the planning process using the Board Planning Pack.
